| Brillian is developing and manufacturing
720p and 1080p rear-projection, high-definition televisions
(HDTVs) targeted at brand-name original equipment manufacturers
(OEMs). Our next-generation digital televisions offer
our OEM customers outstanding performance and breakthrough
image quality that sets a new standard for HDTV price/performance.
We developed our first rear-projection HDTV platform
in the third quarter of 2003. Gen II LCoS™-based
HDTV products will be available via a variety of retail
channels in 2004. Leading retail and OEM customers may
carry turnkey HDTV sets or integrate the base TV-chassis
with customized or complementary features and offer these
televisions as part of their large-area display portfolios.
Brillian is internally developing or sourcing all of
the key components necessary for its HDTVs. We will design
and manufacture the Gen II LCoS™ microdisplays; partner
with light engine designers and integrators; design and/or
purchase all of the necessary components; and develop
strategic manufacturing partners for final assembly.
By offering a total system solution, rather than simply
selling components, Brillian believes its high-end HDTVs
can enter the consumer market more rapidly and at attractive
price/performance levels – offering development
flexibility to its OEM customers.
